Oracle VM Virtual Box
(90.81 Mb)
This is a powerful tool that creates a virtual environment to run different operating systems on your computer without creating a single change in your PC, that means you can test whichever operating system you want to try out with. This software comes with another download package that lets your guest PC to enable port option. This softwares is also available for free for Mac OS and Linux destros. So now you can run or try windows or other operating systems from this amazing free software.
More Details:VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware, targeted at server, desktop and embedded use.
VirtualBox is a cross-platform virtualization application. What does that mean? For one thing, it installs on your existing Intel or AMD-based computers, whether they are running Windows, Mac, Linux or Solaris operating systems. Secondly, it extends the capabilities of your existing computer so that it can run multiple operating systems (inside multiple virtual machines) at the same time. So, for example, you can run Windows and Linux on your Mac, run Windows Server 2008 on your Linux server, run Linux on your Windows PC, and so on, all alongside your existing applications. You can install and run as many virtual machines as you like -- the only practical limits are disk space and memory.
VirtualBox is deceptively simple yet also very powerful. It can run everywhere from small embedded systems or desktop class machines all the way up to datacenter deployments and even Cloud environments.
Why Virtualisation Useful?
The techniques and features that VirtualBox provides are useful for several scenarios:
- Running multiple operating systems simultaneously
- Easier software installations.
- Testing and disaster recovery--On top of that, with the use of another VirtualBox feature called "snapshots", one can save a particular state of a virtual machine and revert back to that state, if necessary. This way, one can freely experiment with a computing environment.
By enabling guest addition one can switch full screen streched , enable 3D visualisation and turn on sharing folders.
This guest addition comes with the same package you have installed.
Step.1. Run the operating system in your guest.
Step.2. Go to 'Install guest addition' in Device Menu.
Step.3. browse for guest addition image in your installed folder of of Virtual box, e.g. by default it would be in C:/program files/oracle/virtual box/guest addition.iso
Step.4. Now it will mount guest addition iso image in your gues OS, Run .exe or .run file whichever your guest OS is.
Step.5. Restart your guest OS.
Step.6. Now add shared folders in settings of your guest.
